Is Polymarket available in Belgium?

Last updated · how we verify

No — Polymarket is blocked in Belgium.

Status: Blocked · Regulator: Belgian Gaming Commission · Verified 17 August 2026

Why Belgium is blocked

Polymarket sits on Belgium's official blacklist for Gambling Act violations — one of the longest-standing European enforcement actions against the platform.

The pattern across every blocked country is the same: a national gambling regulator has classified prediction markets as unlicensed betting and required the platform to block domestic users. Polymarket's position is that it operates an exchange rather than a bookmaker, but it has complied with these orders rather than contest them.

What happens to money already on the platform

In the January 2026 Portugal and Hungary restrictions, affected users were notified and given a window to hold existing positions through to resolution and then withdraw. Balances were not confiscated. If you are affected, withdraw rather than abandon the account.

Using a VPN to reach a geoblocked exchange breaches its terms of service and can result in a frozen account and a failed withdrawal at exactly the moment you want your money out. We do not recommend it, and this site will not explain how to do it.

Belgium questions

Can I use Polymarket in Belgium?

No. Belgium is on the reported full-restriction list, following action by the Belgian Gaming Commission. You can view markets in some cases but not trade or deposit.

What does it cost to trade from Belgium?

The fee schedule is the same wherever you trade from. On the international exchange it is a per-category taker fee — Geopolitics markets are free, and the peak fee is $1.75 per 100 shares in Crypto markets. Makers pay nothing. See the full fee breakdown.

Can I use a VPN from Belgium?

It breaches the terms of service and puts your withdrawal at risk. An account flagged for circumventing a geoblock can be restricted while it still holds your funds. We do not recommend it and do not explain how.

What are the alternatives from Belgium?

Belgian-licensed operators only. Kalshi and PredictIt are both US-only, so they are not substitutes outside the US. See our alternatives comparison.
